T
he IICEAC is an inter- and multidisciplinary center dedicated to research, education, outreach and science communication in the Earth, life and planetary sciences.
Research projects are organized around four research divisions, six laboratories and a core repository. The divisions are:
- Geophysics (Exploration geophysics, marine geophysics, Yucatan peninsula, Chicxulub crater)
- Planetary sciences (Impact cratering, meteorites, evolution of planetary systems, Chicxulub impact)
- Paleobiology Paleoceanography (Mass extinctions, life evolution, Cretaceous/Paleogene boundary)
- Drilling (Geophysical logging, core analyses, petrophysics, geochemistry, stratigraphy, structural geology)
Main areas of interest focus on the Chicxulub impact, mass extinctions, impact cratering, macroevolution, the Cretaceous/Paleogene boundary, paleogeography, paleoclimates, paleoceanography, meteorites and planetary systems.
